Rosie Middleton: Mezzo-Soprano

Born in Manchester, Rosie began her formal musical training at Chetham’s School of Music. She completed a Masters at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2013 as an Annie Ridyard Scholar, where she studied with Sarah Rhodes.

Recent roles include Mother and Hatter/ Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Wowkle (cover)/La Fanciulla del West for Opera Holland Park, Eduige/ Rodelinda with the Amadè Players and Betty Doxy and Ensemble/A Beggar’s Opera for the European Opera Centre. Rosie has a strong interest in contemporary opera, and this year has performed Yola/Lena Two Caravans (Opera Up Close), Zoe/Zoe Trope (RNCM Studio Theatre, Rough for Opera) and Olive/Hunger (Rough for Opera). In 2013 she performed Pierrot Lunaire as part of the Southbank Centre’s The Rest is Noise festival, and was reviewed as “staggeringly good” (New Statesman, February 2013).

On the concert platform recent work includes Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Handel’s Messiah, Bach B Minor Mass and Magnificat, and the Rossini Petite Messe Solenelle.

Later this year Rosie will join Merry Opera for their staged Messiah tour. She will play Dido/Dido and Aeneas for the Amadè Players in 2015.
