Olivia Clarke

eightBritish/Irish soprano, Olivia Clarke, is currently studying for her Masters in Vocal Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Clare Shearer and learns Piano as a second study under the tutelage of Ed Cohen. Olivia read Music with an Organ Scholarship at the Queen’s College, Oxford University and is also an Associate of the Royal College of Organists.
Operatic scenes have included ‘Marzelline’ in Beethoven’s Fidelio and ‘Giunone’ in Cavalli’s Calisto (RCS MMus Opera Scenes). Roles have included ‘Eurydice’ in Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice with the About Turn Theatre Company at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, ‘Galatea’ in Handel’s Acis and Galatea (Turl Street Arts Festival), ‘Magician 2’ (cover) in McPherson’s Uhte (Plug Opera), ‘Daughter’ in the world premiere run of Lambert’s Six Characters in Search of a Stage (Music Troupe), ‘Annina/Chorus’ in Verdi’s La Traviata (Opera Lyrica), ‘Erste Dame’ in Mozart’s Die Zauberfloete (Opera Lyrica), ‘Mme Silberklang’ in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, ‘Diana’ in Offenbach’s Orpheus and the Underworld (New Chamber Opera Studio), and ‘Cleonilla’ in Vivaldi’s Ottone in Villa (Oxford Opera). Other performances include soprano soloist in Bach’s St John Passion at Glasgow Cathedral with RCS under John Butt. Olivia’s singing career is generously supported by the RCS and the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Throckmorton Educational Fund.
At RCS Olivia splits her time between her conducting, singing and piano careers, and enjoys working as a freelance repetiteur and vocal coach across Glasgow and London. Olivia is the musical director of the Kelvin Choir, and accompanies the Arkleston Singers in Glasgow. Olivia is also the founder and principal conductor of Fox Opera, a new company based in Glasgow for young singers. Also regularly involved in music education, Olivia works frequently as music staff and accompanist for Finchley Children’s Music Group and Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls in London.
